Yes this is one way to get hosting. However, many times these deals mean you need to stay an active member of the forum or else you will lose your hosting services.

Yea I think its a good idea, maybe Domainertalk.com should offer free hosting to get this place started.

I don't think it's great. The space and bandwidth we can get is very limited than paid one.
We just can use it for a blog only. There are many forum offering free web hosting just by posting, but those forums are not get active member too.
