I use a combination of posting ads weekly on web hosting / webmaster forums, Adwords, and any type of text or banner ad space I can purchase that is on a website with similar content to mine. So many people think "Wow, this website gets a million visitors a month, I'll buy ad space" but, they fail to pay attention to the theme. If you are advertising products for pets or cats or something, placing an ad on a website about guns (example only) is going to do you no good. Not only will visitors to that website not be interested in your content, getting you little traffic from it but, also, Google will give it no weight either. You need to have ads on website with similar content. Place ads for a hosting website on a hosting website or anything webmaster related. Best of luck to you all!
