You shouldn't be too concerned with yoru Google Page Rank. I'm not sure why they even still have it! Google no loonger uses G-PR to evaluate SERP (Search Engine Rank Position). Some SE's still use it I hear but, Google "The Big Boy", does not.

You shoudl be more concerned with your number of backlinks. The more backlinks from authority sites (especially .edu and .gov domain), the better you'll rank in the SE's.

Google also recently announced that it is using social networks to evaluate ranking. If you have FaceBook, Twitter account, and post on it actively, you will get better rankings.
